Millstream House makes and ideal base to discover the charms of Listowel and
the surrounding Kerry region. Suggested activities include:
 | Listowel is a designated heritage town with a remarkable literary
tradition. The Seanchai -Kerry Literary & Cultural Centre is a museum in the
Square in Listowel that contains exhibitions paying homage to the life and
works of John B. Keane, Bryan MacMahon, Brendan Kennelly, Maurice Walsh and
George Fitzmaurice. |
 | The 2011 Writers Week Festival takes place from the 1st June until the 5th
June 2011. It consists
of workshops, lectures and competitions and participants include many of the
leading Irish and international writers. It allows aspiring writers the
chance to meet and learn from these people in a convivial and relaxed
atmosphere. |
 | Enjoy a pint in John B Keane's bar. The pub is now in the capable hands of
Billy Keane and the walls feature memorabilia from John B's extraordinary
career |
 | The world renowned Ballybunion Golf Links is a mere 9 miles away, For any
golfer this is an essential part of the trip to Ireland |
 | In 2011 the Listowel Races take place over seven days in September (11th-17th). The atmosphere
and 'craic' make this one of Irelands most popular horse-racing events and
many people prefer it to even the Galway races. There is also a two day
meeting on the 5th and 6th of June 2011. |
 | The river Feale is one of Irelands best salmon fishing rivers. The river
passes within 200 meters of Millstream House. Fishing permits can be
arranged with the local anglers club |
 | Railway enthusiasts will be delighted with a trip on the restored Lartigue
Railway. This unique monorail originally ran from Listowel to Ballybunion. A
section of the track is now restored and allows visitors a chance to
experience this unique railway experience |
